Aral pulse, REWE enable fast charging at 180 stores in Germany
The companies will deploy at least two 150 kW fast chargers with two charging points each at the locations’ parking lots.
Aral pulse and REWE have expanded their partnership to install fast charging stations at 180 stores throughout Germany. This collaboration could see at least 720 charging points with a charging capacity of up to 54,000 kW installed by the end of 2024, making the mobility company one of the retailer’s most important e-mobility partners in the country.
The partnership began back in February of 2016 which resulted in REWE To Go stores at 768 Aral service stations and it will now enable fast charging at many of REWE's supermarkets. The first charging station is scheduled to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2023.
"Our goal is to provide our customers with fast and reliable charging where they need it. The 150 kW charging stations from Aral pulse expand the entire range of REWE stores and offer customers the added convenience of being able to charge while they shop," said Alexander Junge, Board Member for E-mobility at Aral.
As part of the cooperation, at least two and up to a maximum of six fast charging points powered by electricity from 100% renewable energy will be installed at each of the selected REWE parking lots. Each of these will have two charging points and a charging capacity of 150 kW - enabling customers to charge up to 150 km of range in ten minutes.
“With the Aral pulse fast charging stations, we are expanding our e-infrastructure: This additional offering simplifies the everyday lives of our customers and employees. As part of our own climate ambitions, we plan to install a total of 4,000 charging points at existing rental properties and new buildings by 2024," added Telerik Shishmanov, Member of the Management Board of the REWE Group.
The planned partnership initially includes 180 REWE rental properties. The partners are also looking into an additional expansion of the cooperation to up to 600 non-company-owned locations in Germany.
