Argentina: YPF in talks to grow EV charging network
The oil company has rolled out its plans to install new chargers in the city of Campana as part of its strategy to install 15 chargers on the National Route Nº 9.
YPF is working to expand its EV charging network across the nationa network. The Argentinian plauer shared its plans with local authorities from the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area.
This was confirmed by the mayor of Campana, Sebastian Abella, in a public statement where he talked about a recent meeting with YPF representatives to discuss the roll out of two chargers at the city’s service stations. The installation is set to be completed before the end of the year.
“It is key for the country to adapt to the transformation that is taking place in the world with the development of electric mobility because it generates investment, jobs and more sustainable development,” said Abella in its public statement.
The new devices are part of the oil company’s plans of installing a charging network throughout the route that connects the provinces of Buenos Aires and Cordoba. YPF aims to set up a mix of semi-fast and fast chargers with a distance of no more than 150 kilometres between each charging point. According to local news site Surtidores, this coincides with the firm’s announcement made last year to carry out a pilot test for EV charging in a route composed of 700 kilometres, as announced by Mauricio Martin, Vice President of Downstream at YPF.
The second phase of the project will be focused on the south region of the Buenos Aires province, setting up a network to connect it to the Atlantic Coast.
