Argentina: YPF welcomes grab & go purchases

The company has partnered up with the start-up Intuitivo to allocate AI-powered containers for customers to pay via an app-based platform.

YPF has partnered up with the startup Intuitivo to offer its customers a “grab & go” cashierless service for purchases. Through its AI-powered technology, the company can transform any piece of furniture into a point of sale and automate the transaccion.

The customer can scan a QR code to have at its disposal a menu that showcases each product on sale and its price. Once linked with the app’s payment method, the door unlocks so that the user can take whatever he desires. Then, the system detects which articles were taken and completes the purchase automatically.

"We selected Intuitivo because it is clear to us that they provide advanced technology for the automation of convenience stores, offer a great value proposition for YPF and share with us the vision for the future of this space," said a representative of Tiendas Full, the company’s convenience store brand, to local media Surtidores.

As stated by the news site, the partnership is entering its final phase of pilot testing. The second phase involves a field trial that will begin in the next weeks and will incorporate newly designed equipment and enhanced visibility. For its first deployment, the vending machines will be exclusively for the purchase of beverages and snacks.

"We are excited to continue expanding our solution in the region and are very pleased to work together with YPF to bring the 'grab and go' experience to the customers of the main network of Service Stations and Full Stores in the country" commented Nicolas Parziale, Founder and CEO of Intuitivo to the Argentinean media iproup.com.
