Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL)  launched its first branded store “Happy Shop” in Delhi, India, last week to expand its retail services across the country. The store was inaugurated in the Servicircle outlet, located in the Mathura Road, in an effort to enhance customer experience and expand the brand’s services throughout the country.

Company representatives gathered at the new site to celebrate the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The company continues its strategy to build a non-fuel retail offer with its recent opening, which is set to have an amalgamation of online and physical stores to provide a superior shopping experience for customers.

“It gives me immense pleasure to expand our retail footprint to the national capital. The store would endeavour to make a significant difference to the experience of the customers and live up to our motto of ‘Delivering Happiness’. The customer response to our retail venture has been very encouraging. HPCL is set to accelerate the growth of ‘Happy Shop’ network in the country by setting up 20 such stores in the current fiscal,” said Pushp Kumar Joshi, Chairman and Managing Director of HPCL.

HPCL decided to set up its own chain of multi-channel retail stores late last year. Currently, there are a total of 10 “Happy Shops” in cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Coimbatore. The firm has gone for an “Harmonised Retail” approach and a “You need it, we have it” kind of product range, with a meticulously selected offer to suit the tastes and preferences of the local neighbourhoods.

The store will stock home utility products including food, toiletries, healthcare products, bakery products, groceries, vegetables and more. It is also equipped with advanced digital technology to give a seamless shopping experience to clients. Along with the experience of a physical store, it has the option of online shopping with a door delivery model through the company’s “HP Pay App” and having goods delivered to their homes.
