Iowa man takes on 30-day gas station diet
A man from Iowa has embarked on a diet challenge--only eat food sold at gas stations in the United States for 30 days.
Frank Beard, an endurance athlete from Des Moines who travels five days a week for work, is in a mission to prove that one can still eat healthy despite one’s hectic lifestyle.
“I want to prove that it's possible to stay healthy while eating out. As a guy who used to weigh 80lbs heavier, I know that it's not always easy. Larger portion sizes, limited choices, etc.,” said Beard on his Instagram account 30daysofgasstationfood where he documents his diet experiment.
He has been posting the food he purchased from different convenience stores and at the same time tracking his diet on MyFitnessPal.
His recent updates will show that Beard has been successful so far and has been even able to shed three pounds in two weeks.
It was not easy though as some states and gas station stores offer less healthy food options, as Beard also commented in some of his Instagram posts.
Nonetheless, according to a related CSP Daily News report, more convenience store chains namely Enmarket, Kwik Trip, Sheetz, U-Gas, Tri-Star, Twice Daily, Vintners have already partnered with Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) and committed to expand healthy food options in the effort to end childhood obesity.
