Valora merges Retail and Food Service divisions in foodvenience push
The move is designed to allow the core competencies of both areas to be leveraged more efficiently and to enable Valora to respond more effectively to changing consumer behavior.
Swiss convenience and food service operator Valora has brought its Retail and Food Service B2C divisions together into a single unified organization, with the restructuring taking full effect on June 1, 2026.
The move is designed to allow the core competencies of both areas to be leveraged more efficiently and to enable Valora to respond more effectively to changing consumer behavior. The company operates across Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, with brands including k kiosk, avec, BackWerk, Ditsch, Brezelkönig, Caffè Spettacolo, and Frittenwerk.
Roger Vogt, who has been CEO Retail and a member of the Valora Group Leadership Team since 2019, will lead the new combined unit. Philipp Angehrn, who previously headed German retail operations, will run the Germany and Austria and Netherlands country unit, with a second unit covering Switzerland and Luxembourg.
"I am convinced that with the new structure, we have created a powerful organization that can make a real impact in the market," said Vogt.
Valora CEO Michael Mueller framed the decision in strategic terms: "We are convinced that by deliberately combining our expertise in retail and food service, we can create clear competitive advantages."
Vogt pointed to external validation of the direction, noting that the European Retailer of the Year 2025 award for the avec store featuring the integrated The Kitchen concept confirms the company is on the right track.
The consolidation also marks a leadership transition. Sebastian Kayser, who served as CEO Food Service B2C and co-led the strategic integration alongside Vogt, has departed the company following the completion of the project. Valora thanked Kayser for his contribution to the development of the Food Service business.
Valora has been part of Mexican conglomerate FEMSA since October 2022, with the acquisition positioned as the basis for building a European leader in convenience and food service.
