Rolande, G&V Energy Group open fifth Belgian LNG station
Both companies have developed their fourth Bio-LNG site in addition to their locations recently built in Germany and the Netherlands.
G&V Energy Group and Rolande have opened a new Bio-LNG filling station in Zellik, a small town located in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. As part of both companies’ strategy to develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) network throughout Europe, the new site allows for coverage throughout the whole region around Brussels.
Rolande has opened four new Bio-LNG stations in recent months: two in Belgium (Waregem and Zellik) and one each in Germany (Hamburg) and the Netherlands (Bodegraven). Its network now extends throughout three European countries in support of the transport sector’s transition into alternative fuels.
“As alternative fuels in the European Union’s ‘Fit-for-55’ policy, LNG and Bio-LNG make a significant contribution to the ambitious targets for making ‘Commercial Road Transport’ more sustainable. This policy calls on EU member states to provide sufficient network coverage for Bio-LNG. We are contributing to this actively with our five stations in Belgium and our outlets in the Netherlands and Germany,” explains Jolon van der Schuit, CEO of Rolande.
Using Bio-LNG saves heavy road transport up to 100% in carbon emissions compared to diesel Euro 6. In addition, switching to LNG can already reduce carbon emissions by up to 17% compared to diesel.
“This outlet takes us a further step towards a future-proof mobility solution, where LNG plays an important intermediate role alongside other green alternatives. Our next aim is to optimise our proposition to Bio-LNG, which is already very successful with our Dutch neighbours, thanks to the CO2 certificates system,” added Xavier Dewulf, CEO of G&V Energy Group.
With this new opening, Rolande now operates a network of 24 LNG stations throughout Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands.
